Heat: Pedal to the Metal is a racing game that is utterly thrilling. You play cards to manage your car’s race speed to keep from overheating, then zoom off to the finish line.

The game’s primary mechanics are hand management, deck building, and pushing your luck. You can expect the base game to last 30-60 minutes for 1-6 players. To spice things up, the box includes different game maps, modules, and upgrades that will keep you entertained for many more play sessions.

It’s surprising how addicting this relatively simple racing game can be. The rules are easy to learn, yet the competition is cutthroat and loads of fun. Everyone I’ve played it with also loves it — there is nothing like the "aha" moment of figuring out the strategy, then going neck and neck to win the race. All in all, I give Heat: Pedal to the Metal my highest recommendation.
