Mountain Goats

review by Tessa

Mountain Goats is a simple game of strategy and sabotage, whether you like analyzing a pool of dice to figure out the best strategy or if you just want to push your friend's goat all the way to the bottom. Mountain Goats is a 2-4 player game that only takes about 20 minutes overall to play. Mountain Goats is an incredibly portable game that is great for taking to a friend's house or even on vacation as it easily fits into any backpack or suitcase. While the strategy and rules are incredibly simple, it is still very satisfying to have a turn be as effective as possible. In Mountain Goats, you roll four dice and then organize them to add up to numbers between 6 and 10. Then the goats on those respective mountains move up another step. Figuring out how to not waste any dice while also being up to chance leads to confident wins but not too upsetting losses. Playing this game feels like classic card games like Gin or Poker, where you have to use your cards or dice in this case to create the best outcome.

Mountain Goats is also incredibly easy to learn, with instructions only being a singular page instead of the small novel that comes along with some games. This along with the very pretty art style makes Mountain Goats the perfect game for people wanting a chill and accessible gaming experience.
